ALL-INDIA CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS FOR AGRICULTURAL AND RURAL
LABOURERS ON BASE 1986-87=100 –FEBRUARY, 2012

  • The All-India Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers and Rural

  •  Labourers (Base: 1986-87=100) for February, 2012 increased by 3 points and 4 points

  • respectively to stand at 621 (Six hundred and twenty one ) points for Agricultural Labourers

  • and 623( Six hundred and twenty three) points for Rural Labourers.

  • The rise/fall in index varied from State to State. In case of Agricultural Labourers, it 

  • recorded an increase between 1 to 7 points in 18 States and a decrease of 1 and 2 points in 2 

  • States. Maharashtra with 691 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the 

  • index level of 512 points stood at the bottom.

  • In case of Rural Labourers, it recorded an increase between 2 to 7 points in 16 States 

  • and a decrease of 5 points in 1 State. It, however, remained stationary in 3 States. Haryana and 

  • Maharashtra with 683 points topped the index table whereas Himachal Pradesh with the index 

  • level of 531 points stood at the bottom.

  • The Consumer Price Index Numbers for Agricultural Labourers in respect of Uttar 

  • Pradesh and Rural Labourers in respect of Rajasthan State registered the maximum increase of 

  • 7 points each mainly due to increase in the prices of rice, wheat atta, bajra, milk, mustard oil, 

  • chillies dry and vegetables & fruits. 

  • Point to point rate of inflation based on the CPI-AL and CPI-RL increased from 4.92% 

  • and 5.27% in January, 2012 to 6.34% and 6.68% respectively in February, 2012. Inflation based 

  • on food index of CPI-AL and CPI-RL are 2.55% and 2.72% respectively during February, 2012
