The Central Government has decided to make available 46.00 lakh tons of non-levy (free sale) sugar for the quarter of April, 2012 to June, 2012 as given below:

(*) The sugar factory shall sell and deliver/dispatch the entire non-levy quantity of 45 lac tons released for the quarter April, 2012 to June, 2012 within the validity period of the release order i.e. from 01.4.2012 to 30.6.2012 with the condition that “the sugar mills should sell and deliver / dispatch not less than 25% of the quarterly quota in each month of the quarter and that the remaining 25% can be sold and delivered / dispatched at any time during the quarter as per their commercial prudence”.
(**) The validity period for sale and deliver / dispatch of the non-levy sugar quota released for the month of March, 2012 has been extended by 15 days i.e. upto 15.04.2012.
(***) This quantity of 46.00 lac tons along with the monthly levy sugar quota detailed below is sufficient to meet the internal demand of sugar for the quarter of April to June, 2012.
Further, the month of April, 2012 the Government had released 2.82 lac tons of levy sugar which included 1.05 lactons as the levy sugar quota of FCI operated States for the months April, 2012 to June, 2012. The Government has also released 1.77 lakh tons of levy sugar for the month of May, 2012 for the direct allottee States. The levy sugar quota of directallottee States for the month of June, 2012 shall be released in due course of time.
