Nearly 18 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and beneficiaries of family pension will get a seven per cent hike in dearness allowance with effect from January 1, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced in the Assembly on Monday.
This follows the Central government's decision to increase dearness allowance by seven per cent effective January 2012.
